SINGAPORE’S ORCHARD ROAD CHRISTMAS LIGHT-UP TO FEATURE VIRTUAL TOUR

The highly anticipated Christmas light-up along Singapore’s famed shopping district will take place on a smaller scale this year, but promises to be just as magical. While there won’t be a Christmas Village—a highlight for its retail offerings, amusement rides, and festive snacks, there will be a virtual tour that allows locals to enjoy the festive decor without running the risk of big crowds during the ongoing pandemic.

Starting November 13, the Christmas On a Great Street event will kick off with a closed door light-up ceremony at ION Orchard. This will be live-streamed on Community Chest’s social media channels, including Facebook and YouTube,

Those looking to experience the Christmas displays can check them out both physically and digitally from then until January 1, 2021. Visitors will be welcomed by a festive arch at the Orchard-Paterson Road junction, before being greeted by Christmas ornaments along Somerset, Tanglin, and Orchard.

At home, locals can also enjoy a virtual “drive” along the 2.88km stretch by means of a 360-degree virtual tour on the event’s microsite starting November. Themed “Love This Christmas, the light-up will honour the city-state’s frontliners during the pandemic.
