With travellers turning their attention to domestic destinations and overland journeys, train voyages are having a moment in the spotlight. Enter Aman’s Journey to Java package, a brand new itinerary launched by the luxury hotel group in partnership with local rail operator PT Kereta Api Pariwista in the Indonesian island of Java.

The inaugural trip will kick off on December 10 this year, taking guests on a seven-hour sojourn across the lush and fertile plains of West Java, the volcanic landscapes of Central Java, and tree-lined hills dotted with temples. Prior to departure from Central Jakarta’s Gambir station, guests can relax at an exclusive lounge before boarding the carriages, which come adorned in Aman’s elegant aesthetic.
Breakfast and lunch will be served on board, with Amanjiwo’s resident anthropologist Patrick Vanhoebrouck on hand to share about the area’s cultural and historical importance. Champagne and afternoon tea will then be served, as passengers arrive at Yogyakarta Tugu station all ready for a 60-minute private transfer to Amanjiwo.

The culmination of the journey is a three-night stay at the all-suite property, whose design is inspired by ancient Borobudur. During the stay, guests can indulge in dining experiences at the hotel’s grand colonial restaurant, savour a private picnic on the Progo river banks, or luxuriate in a sunset martini session overlooking the scenic Menoreh Hills for an unforgettable end to their travels. Cultural lovers can also explore the nearby Borobudur Temple, whose history dates back to the ninth century.
