Big Splash, with its colourful water slides and family-friendly attractions, has long been a childhood favourite among Singaporeans who grew up in the late 90s. Following its 2006 closure, new lifestyle destination Coastal PlayGrove has been unveiled on March 28 at its former site in East Coast Park. Locals hoping to relive their fond memories of the park will be pleased to know that the 4.5-hectare development is home to an outdoor play area, a water play area, as well as new retail and dining offerings.

The highlight is a 16-meter tall Play Tower, which is reminiscent of the iconic Big Splash tower. As Singapore’s tallest outdoor play feature, the Play Tower features net play, a Vertical Challenge, and slides designed along the theme of waves and shores. While the tall slides aren’t for the faint hearted, the attraction also comes with a wading pool and jets of water with nighttime illumination to cater to all ages. The Vertical Challenge is a Ninja Warrior-style play area with hammocks, zig-zag bridge, hoop maze, wobble link, grip wall, disc swings, and more—perfect for those who’d like to challenge their balance and agility.

Meanwhile, a nature playground is weaved into the area, with themed sections that encourage both the young and old to interact and play in nature. There’s also an outdoor classroom by the sea—the first of its kind, designed for pre-schoolers with amenities like a chalkboard, surrounded by edible plant species, and strategically located next to the relaxing waves. On the dining front, visitors can expect Once Upon a Time by The Tiara Society, Food Splash, Oldtown White Coffee, and Burger King.
Other upcoming attractions include a 15km nature trail that will run through the entire length of East Coast Park, inclusive of therapeutic gardens and nature play gardens.
