You might’ve shelved your travel plans for Moscow or Saint Petersburg, but head to Raffles Hotel Singapore and you can enjoy a gastronomical journey into Russia. Reminiscent of extravagant parties from back in the day, the hotel’s refurbished Grand Lobby will be serving the newly-launched Moscow Afternoon Tea experience from now until March 14.
Diners can tuck into a curated array of Russian canapés, including decadent savouries such as blinis with Kristal caviar and smoked salmon and black-sesame bubliki bagels. Guests with a sweet tooth will fancy the Russian apple sharlotka, a light sponge cake filled with apple, cranberry kissel, and milk-and-sour cream mousse topped with chocolate ganache glaze. Complement your afternoon tea with the choice of Mariage Frères premium tea or the Raffles’ custom-blended coffee—and don’t leave without popping a ptasie mleczko (soft chocolate-covered candy filled with soft meringue or milk soufflé) or two.
To complete the experience, wind down at the Writer’s Bar, where Russian-inspired cocktails are served. Go for the Post Imperial Kir, a fruity-forward creation made with champagne, gin, raspberry, cherry, and orange; the rum-based Babushkiny Luchshiye, crafted with apple, beet, milk, tea, and citrus; or the Tarragon Tat’yana, a potent mix of vodka, vermouth, sake, and tarragon.
Available from Mondays to Thursdays between 1pm and 5pm, the afternoon tea is priced at S$88 per person. Meanwhile, The Writers Bar will be serving the cocktails from 5 pm daily.
