OVOLO BECOMES FIRST HOTEL GROUP TO GO FULL VEGETARIAN FOR A YEAR

Here’s a hotel brand that takes going green pretty seriously—Ovolo has announced that they will be going completely vegetarian for a year. As part of the luxury boutique hotel group’s “Year of the Veg” initiative, which kickstarted on October 1 (also World Vegetarian Day), Ovolo Hotels will commit to serving only plant-based dishes across all restaurants and bars.

With properties spanning Australia and Hong Kong, Ovolo is the first hotel group to embrace a more environmentally-friendly way of eating by swapping out meat at all of its dining establishments. No stranger to the green movement, Ovolo Central is also home to Hong Kong’s first vegetarian hotel restaurant, Veda, which serves wholesome plant-based creations.

Taking things up a notch, all menus under the hotel group will now feature full vegetarian dishes, in hopes of helping to slow down climate change and aid environmental conservation. Diners cabn expect to enjoy flavourful plant-based dishes featuring fermenting and pickling techniques, as well as locally-sourced produce both from the hotels’ own gardens and local farms.

To reduce environmental footprint, Ovolo has also eliminated single-use bathroom amenities, as well as replaced plastic straws with some sustainable alternatives.
